The Ministry of Finance vide its order dated 29th July, 2016 has extended the due date of filing of Income tax return from 31st July, 2016 to 31st August, 2016 for Jammu & Kashmir and to 5th August, 2016 for rest of India. The reasons sited behind the extension are strike by bank employees on 29th July, 2016 and Sunday on 31st July, 2016, so to avoid hardship in depositing tax due the date is extended. further for Jammu & Kashmir the reason is recent unrest in the valley. The Excise and Taxation Department, Punjab has exempted all the items from E-trip under Rule 64-A of Punjab VAT Rules, 2005. E-Trip is the mechanism whereby the intra-state (With in State) movement of notified goods is mandatorily reported on the official website of the Department. CBDT Order U/s 119(1) Of The Income-tax Act, 1961
The CBDT has issued an order dated 24.07.2014 u/s 119 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 with regard to the filing of income-tax returns by the due date of 31.07.2014 and the making of special arrangements for that purpose.
Public Notice dated 24.07.2014: -
1. An option in VAT-15 to take Input Tax Credit through Worksheet-6 instead of Worksheet-7 for 1st Quarter of 2014-15.
2. Extending the Due date of filing of VAT-15 return to 20.08.2014.
3. Date of tax payments will remain unchanged.
4. New VAT-15 with above mentioned option will be available from 25th July at Department's website.
CBDT has vide notification No. 32/2014 dated 23.06.2014 prescribed new Wealth Tax Return Form BB wef A.Y. 2014-15 instead of old form BA. CBDT has also prescribed that this form can be filed online with or without digital signature. For certain class of Assessee i.e. Individual/HUF not liable to tax audit e-filing is optional but for other class of Assessees i.e. Individual/HUF liable to audit and Companies return of net wealth in FORM BB shall be furnished electronically under digital signature.

S.O. 1418(E).─In exercise of the powers conferred by section 295 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), the Central Board of Direct Taxes hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Income-tax Rules, 1962, namely:-
The last date of e-filling of quarterly returns in VAT-15 for quarter ending 31.03.2014 is extended upto 31st May, 2014. But there is no change in last date for payment of VAT. Copy of Public Notice dated 22.04.2014 is attached herewith for your reference.
